Tuscany Photography Workshop
Join Henk Meijer and me May 16 – 22, 2021 for a seven days Tuscany Photography Workshop.
It is not surprising that Tuscany’s multifaceted beauty is a natural magnet for photographers.
The Val d’Orcia, of course, needs no introduction as it is world famous as a photography destination as well as being a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Farmhouses, rolling hills and misty mornings abound as we set out to some of the area’s best places.
At our first day we will pick you up in Florence and drive you to our hotel in Pienza. On arrival we will have a welcome drink, get to know each other and talk about what you are trying to achieve with your photography, which techniques you want to learn or improve and where your “pain points” in photography lie. After that, we will set out for our first evening shoot in the fields under Pienza.
On days 2, 3, 4, and 5 a very early start in the morning, before sunrise, will allow us to be at our chosen locations in good time. Most of the subjects that we will photograph are located in the close vicinity and can be reached within a 30 minute drive. After a considerable time of photographing, we will return to our hotel for a well deserved breakfast. Following the morning indulgence will be free time, or we can head out for short cultural excursions with photo opportunities, or if you would rather prefer to relax or catch up on some sleep, that is no problem either.
At later afternoon, we will regroup for sunset photo sessions. The evening meals will take place in accordance with light and weather conditions either before or after theses afternoon sessions.
Day 6 will start with our last early morning shoot. After breakfast we will leave Pienza to visit San Gimignano. We will explore this highly photogenic little town the rest of the morning and afternoon. Once we replenished our strength with a late lunch or an early dinner, we will proceed to our final photo destination – Florence. Our last night will be spent in a hotel near the Florence Airport.
Every good trip must come to an end. After breakfast everybody will pack up his/her gear and head to Florence Airport for your flight back home or your alternative destination.
Tour price: US$ 2,500 (per person, based on a shared room). For couples, larger group (three or more participants signing up together) and alumni to previous photography tours with Henk Meijer or me will receive a 10% discount.
Fifty percent of the photography workshop is to be paid in advance. The remaining 50% is due 60 days before the trip.
Payments may be made with Visa, MasterCard or American Express. Upon payment of your deposit, we will send you an information package including suggestions for photography and travel gear, and clothing.
No refunds will be given for unused portions of this adventure. We highly recommend travel insurance which is inexpensive and easy to acquire. Knowing you have 100% trip cancellation coverage makes a big difference should you have to cancel for some unforeseen reason.
Reserve early, as group size is limited to max 14 participants.
The photo tour is suitable for beginners, advanced and semi-pro photographers. Participants must have a working knowledge of their camera.

Any trips I organize or organize with another photographer are private and non-business. I am a physician by trade and I take people along with me on my trips because I enjoy the company and the opportunity to help people get to know and photograph the Southwest. I do not make a business out of it. My goal is to have a pleasant, safe trip with artistic value photography as a result. We share expenses, gear, ideas, and experiences. We do nothing that would require me or a co-host to be a concessionaire or CUA holder in any federal or state lands we may visit or photograph. We will not be going anyplace on public lands that are not generally open to the public. No photographs you take on public lands may be used to promote the sale or use of a product or service. We will not do any “commercial filming” as defined in the Code of Federal Regulations nor will we do any “still photography” that would require a permit from any agency administering any public land which we photograph.
We will respect nature, leave only footprints where we are allowed to leave footprints, and take only our images, memories, and friendships home with us.
